Dress Codes for International Flights

When it comes to air travel and clothing, we are all different. There are some travelers who will always wear business suits, some in casual jeans, and others who wear something as cosy as feasible (for example their pyjamas or sweat pants). With the recent upgrading in airfield security and the changes in air travel rules, there are plenty of people who question whether the clothing they wear to the airport is critical.

If you are one of those people, you can relax a little because, mostly, it isn’t. It appears as if ever since planes became the popular way to go, a focus has been placed on comfort. And it comes to comfort, many air travelers make the choice to wear sweat pants and a comfy top. As well as being snug, you will find, mostly, that these sorts of clothes are the best for airport security, particularly when entering airfield screening checkpoints. The reason is because most sweat pants aren’t made with any metal items. Basically, this indicates that you should be able to go into the security checkpoint and leave it faster than most other travelers (like the ones who have belt-buckles, jewellery etc).

When it comes to clothing accessories, you may find a range of different items set off airfield metal detectors. That’s why most airfield security officers request that you remove all your jewellery. For the same reason, a substantial number of airfields have requested that you remove your belts before entering the metal detectors (this is done to help speed up the checking of each passenger). If you don’t enjoy removing some of your jewellery or removing your belt, it is suggested that you leave those items at home before boarding your international flights.

Lately, a number of new air travel rules have been implemented. One of those rules demands that all passengers remove their shoes. Your shoes, once removed, will be scanned by an xray machine, together with the remainder of your carryon luggage. Until recently, only random passengers were asked to get rid of their shoes, but now most are. Because of this, you’ll want to wear easy shoes that you can simply remove and put back on. Another new air travel rule is the ban of liquids. This means that you are not permitted to bring a drink onboard, even bottled water. You are also restricted from placing liquid beauty supplies in your carry-on baggage.
